The new 4/1 speed reduction kit has been designed for:

Rikon (Model 10-305), Craftsman (124.21400 and 119.21400) and Jet (JWBS-10os), (Wen BA3962 has curved spokes and requires special 3 rib belt, advise of this model when ordering) and other compatible models that use a 70.5" saw blade and ~ 10" dia. blade wheel with blade speed of ~2750 ft/min. Note: except for Wen, your BS wheel spokes and timing belt with 4 ribs should look like those shown in my photos. If you have any doubt about compatibility, please send me a message so we can discuss. Certain models may have flat spiral spokes with a narrow rib on the center line. In this case, the rib should be milled down to clear the mounting bolt head. If there is enough spoke width, the bolt hole may be drilled adjacent to each rib with the bolt head resting on the rib.

When trying to cut steel or non-ferrous metal such as aluminum, brass, etc. the high blade speed results in excessive motor loading, cutting friction and heat build-up which will quickly wear out the saw blade and make it difficult to hold the metal stock by hand. Also, cutting plexiglass or other plastics at high speed will cause melting of the plastic at the cutting edge and binding of the blade. This NEW speed reduction kit reduces the blade speed to ~688 ft/min (speed reduction of 4/1) which allows metal and plastic cutting to be practical and also provides 4 times available motor torque. Suggested saw blade is: 70.5" x 1/2" x .025" x 18N Band Saw Blade M42 Bi-metal

Photo 1 shows the speed reduction pulley mounted on the blade wheel (drilling dimensions for mounting bolt clearance holes will be provided with the kit). Fig 2 shows a close up still shot of the spinning pulley. Note that the original pulley remains in place (shown in photos 3 and 4) allowing for a quick change to high speed operation using the original timing belt. Also Photo 5 shows the 7.5" pulley wheel mounted on a lathe for machining operations such as; truing up the OD, cutting the belt road bed, facing off pulley wheel sides and drilling and threading the three mounting holes.

The complete kit is shown in the last photo including an aluminum 7.5" pulley wheel, 3 socket head mounting bolts and timing belt.
